The Heller Company
The origins of The Heller Company trace back to 1945. That is the year Mike Heller Sr. moved from Chicago to Sacramento and started his own construction company Continental Heller Corporation (CHC). For the next 4 decades CHC grew into a regional power in the construction industry. Heller earned a reputation for taking on the most complex and challenging jobs and he relished in bidding against the nation's largest contractors. This was certainly the case in hometown Sacramento where Heller refused to lose a bid to any out-of-town competitor. The company creed was Quality, Economy and Dependability and backbone was engineering excellence. The Sacramento skyline is a testament to CHC's presence in the marketplace. Most notable of CHC's project include the Atlanta Subway System, Vandenberg Airforce Base, Anaheim Stadium Expansion and local Sacramento projects such as 455 and 555 Capital Mall office towers, SMUD Headquarters Building, The IBM Building and the Restoration of the California State Capital. In 1980, Heller sold the company to an international construction conglomerate and headed into retirement. What remains is a distinguished reputation for excellence in construction, for the desire to compete and for innovation.
The Heller Company (THC) now carries on this tradition. In 1991, Heller and Son Mike Jr. teamed up to form THC. Rather than build for third parties, the plan was to develop real estate for Heller's own account. Heller Jr. came into the venture with a strong background in finance, leasing, and design. United the two Heller's formed a formidable team with a broad base of expertise. The 1990's were spent buying value-added office projects throughout Sacramento from distressed sellers. The 2000's marked new construction of cutting edge, innovative office projects. All facets of property investment, development, leasing and management were taken in-house and a quality portfolio of investment real estate emerged. THC continues to this day as one of Sacramento's finest boutique developers committed to the same business principals established in 1945 by Mike Heller Sr.
